People in the fishing industry do not have to track or pay for their emissions. Like all New Zealanders, they may notice a small increase in energy prices due to the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS).
For more information on these effects and how to reduce your energy costs, please see What does the ETS mean for me?
Between 21 June and 30 July 2010, eligible fishing quota owners were able to apply for an allocation of New Zealand Units (NZUs), which they can trade.
For more information, see Fishing Allocation: NZUs for Fishing Quota Owners.
