- The group is made up of technical experts from within industry and the scientific community, familiar with the science of carbon sequestration.
- The purpose of the group is to review and advise on key proposals to come out of the work plan for the development of a carbon measurement methodology – such as:
- Forest and vegetation types,
- Application of growth and carbon models within the carbon calculator,
- Application of the look up table method,
- Measurement method precision,
- Measurement method assumptions and methodology.
- It also provides oversight of the overall carbon measurement process and/or any particular issues that the project team may seek advice on.
- Finally, it provides independent advice that adds value to the decision making responsibilities of MAF or Ministers or Cabinet
