Forestry Measurement Technical Advisory Group

  1. The group is made up of technical experts from within industry and the scientific community, familiar with the science of carbon sequestration.
  2. The purpose of the group is to review and advise on key proposals to come out of the work plan for the development of a carbon measurement methodology – such as:
    • Forest and vegetation types,
    • Application of growth and carbon models within the carbon calculator,
    • Application of the look up table method,
    • Measurement method precision,
    • Measurement method assumptions and methodology.
  3. It also provides oversight of the overall carbon measurement process and/or any particular issues that the project team may seek advice on.
  4. Finally, it provides independent advice that adds value to the decision making responsibilities of MAF or Ministers or Cabinet
