Climate Change Minister Nick Smith has announced that Certified Emission Reduction units (CERs) from HFC-23 and N2O industrial gas destruction projects are now banned from New Zealand’s Emissions Trading Scheme (effective 23 December 2011).

The proposed change may affect the following:
Submissions are welcomed from parties who may be affected by the proposed change and from other interested people. The consultation questions at the end of the consultation document are for guidance only, submissions on all aspects of the proposals are welcome.
The deadline for submissions is 5pm on Monday 31 October 2011. Submissions can be emailed to climatechange@mfe.govt.nz, with ‘HFC/CERs submission’ in the subject line.
