What’s happening?
The Ministry for the Environment has released a discussion document on establishing an entity to hold NZUs for future owners of Crown Forest Licensed land. The document outlines the Government’s proposal to appoint the trustees of the Crown Forestry Rental Trust (CFRT) to carry out the functions of this entity.
You are invited to provide your views on this proposal to the Ministry for the Environment.

You can provide feedback on this proposal to the Ministry for the Environment by 5.00pm Friday 3 September (note, this deadline has been extended from 23 August). A submission form is available on the right.

What is the process for establishing the final entity?
After considering submissions on the discussion document, the Minister for Climate Change Issues will make a decision about the structure, composition, functions and terms and conditions of the entity. The Minister’s decision will be notified in the New Zealand Gazette.
